He is the son of the late Vilasrao Deshmukh, who served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and he has appeared in over 60 films, both in Hindi and Marathi cinema.

Both of his brothers, Amit, who is his older brother, and Dhiraj, who is his younger brother, are politicians. He has two brothers.

Deshmukh received his education from G D Somani Memorial School and then attended the Kamla Raheja College of Architecture in Mumbai to acquire his degree in architecture.

Deshmukh continues to hold an ownership position in Evolutions, an architectural and interior design firm based in India.
