About Sadashiv Amrapurkar:  Sadashiv Amrapurkar has also played cricket in the Ranji Trophy. Was an excellent batsman and a leg spinner, eventually moving his career from Cricket to acting and directing plays.

Sadashiv Amrapurkar Early Life and Background

Sadashiv’s original name was Ganesh Kumar Narwode. He was born in Amrapur village of Shevgaon tehsil, Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra. He began acting during his school days. He was involved in theatre while completing his master’s degree in History and Sociology at Pune University.

Sadashiv Amrapurkar Personal Life

Sadashiv tied the knot with Sunanda Karmakar on June 13, 1973. Together they have three daughters, Ketaki Amarapurkar Jategaonkar, Rima Amarapurkar who is a film director, and Dr. Sayali Jahagirdar.

Sadashiv Amrapurkar Career

Amrapurkar started his career by being a part of Marathi theatre during his school life where he had already acted and directed over fifty plays, before moving on to films. He was famous for his roles as antagonist.

Some of the great works are as follows:

Sadashiv debuted as the lead role in the movie “ Bal Gangadhar Tilak” in 1897, which is a Marathi historical movie. 

Sadashiv Amrapurkar Awards and Nominations

Sadashiv won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in “Ardh Satya” in 1983 and Best Villian for “Sadak” in 1991.

Sadashiv Amrapurkar Illness and Death

After detecting lung inflammation in October 2014, he was hospitalized at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where his condition became critical. He passed away on 3 November 2014 at the age of 64.
