Raza Murad Early Life: An Indian actor who mainly plays in Hindi films, Raza Murad was born on November 23, 1950. He is Hamid Ali Murad’s son, a character actor in Bollywood. Murad is Zeenat Aman’s first cousin and the nephew of Mughal-e-Azam and Pakeezah author Amanullah Khan. Sonam and Sanober Kabir, his nieces, are also actors. 

He has acted in more than 250 Bollywood movies. Murad has additionally made appearances in Hindi television, regional films, and Bhojpuri.

Raza Murad Career & Films 

Murad started his acting career in the 1972 film Ek Nazar, and in the 1970s, he portrayed sympathetic brothers and brother figures. He has mainly played fathers, uncles, or villains in supporting roles since the 1980s.

From 1969 to 1971, Murad attended the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and graduated with a diploma in film acting. One of his most enduring performances as a character actor was the dejected poet in Namak Haraam (1973), starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna. He had a distinctive baritone voice.

In popular Bollywood movies including Raj Kapoor’s Prem Rog, Henna, and Ram Teri Ganga Maili as well as Khud-daar, Ram Lakhan, Tridev, Pyar Ka Mandir, Aankhen, Mohra, and Gupt, Murad had important roles.

He starred alongside Ajay Devgn as a terrorist who seeks to take control of India in the 1993 film Ek Hi Raasta. Jodha Akbar, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, had Murad in a minor role.

Jatt Punjabi was one of the several Punjabi movies in which Murad appeared. He appeared in Dharam Jeet (1975) alongside Veerendra, a Punjabi actor (Dharmendra’s cousin). 

He made an appearance in the television programme Madhubala: Ek Ishq Ek Junoon. Murad has appeared in several Telugu movies, such as Indra (2002).

In the romantic historical drama Padmaavat from 2018, he portrayed Jalal-ud-din Khalji, the founder and the first sultan of the renowned Delhi Sultanate and the head of the Khalji Dynasty.

Awards Associated with Raza Murad

At the PTC Punjabi Film Awards in February 2011, he was given a prestigious award for his services to Punjabi cinema. Murad has won one of his seven Filmfare Award nominations for Best Villain.
