About Pankaj Singh: Pankaj Singh, a tall and slim right-arm medium-fast bowler from Rajasthan, has steadily advanced from the Under-19 level to the India A side since making his first-class debut in August 2003. Pankaj Singh, a tall, well-built youngster from a rural village in Uttar Pradesh, is a potential fast-bowler who emerged onto the domestic scene with raw pace as an 18-year-old in 2003.

He later played Under-19 cricket for India before moving to domestic cricket following some strong performances in age-group cricket. Pankaj drew the notice of the selectors after his family relocated to Rajasthan and was given his first-class debut for Rajasthan during the 2004/05 Ranji Trophy season.

Pankaj Singh Career

By 2006, he showed maturation, leading Rajasthan to the Ranji Plate League final with 21 wickets at 20.95. He was a member of India A’s dual tour of Zimbabwe and Kenya in 2007, and his 18 wickets in the unofficial Tests and ODIs in Kenya won him a berth in the home series against South Africa A.

With Sreesanth and Munaf Patel out, he was called up to India’s Test team for the tour of Australia. He began his IPL career with the Rajasthan Royals before moving on to the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the second season.

When the selectors chose to rest some senior players on India’s tour to Zimbabwe, he was included in the limited-overs teams. Pankaj attempted to make a return after losing his spot in the group by putting up excellent results on the home circuit.

Between 2009 and 2014, he was among the top wicket-takers in the Ranji Trophy, and he also contributed match-winning performances for Rajasthan during their title triumphs in 2010 and 2011. He was ultimately rewarded for his efforts by being named to India’s Test team for the 2014 visit to England.
