  • .Shami now holds the second-highest contract grade from the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), an A-grade central contract as of 2022.
  • Shami was one of five children raised in the Uttar Pradesh village of Sahaspur throughout her formative years. When Shami was 15 years old, he was introduced to Badruddin Siddique, a cricket coach in Moradabad, a town 22 kilometers (14 miles) from his home. 
  • Shami’s father, Tauseef Ali, was a farmer who had once been a fast bowler. He bowls the ball off the seam with his right arm and uses swing, including reverse swing, to propel the ball both forward and backward.
  • In an ODI against Pakistan in January 2013, Shami made his debut for his country by delivering four first-overs. He took five wickets in his first Test match against the West Indies in November 2013. He achieved 100 ODI wickets in the fastest time by any Indian bowler.

  • He became the second Indian bowler to record a hat-trick in a World Cup game during the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Shami now holds the second-highest contract grade from the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), an A-grade central contract as of 2022.

Mohammed Shami Domestic Career

  • Shami made his first-class and Test debuts at Bengal’s home stadium, Eden Gardens.
  • In a Twenty20 match in October 2010, Shami made his senior debut for Bengal and recorded four wickets. The following month, he took three wickets in a high-scoring encounter at Eden Gardens against Assam to make his first-class cricket debut.

1. Bengaluru Knight Riders: The Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders signed Shami in 2011. Dav Whatmore, the head coach of Kolkata, had previously worked with the Bengal Cricket Association and had recognized Shami, who had participated in Twenty20 matches for Bengal, as a player with potential.

2. Move to Delhi Daredevils: As teams could only keep a maximum of five players before the 2014 season, Shami was acquired by Delhi Daredevils in the player auction after making his international debut.

3. Move to Kings XI Punjab: Shami was purchased by Kings XI Punjab for 4.8 Crores in the 2019 player auction after being released by Delhi before the 2019 season.

4. Move to Gujarat Titans: As franchises could only keep a maximum of four players before the 2022 IPL auction, Punjab released Shami, who was then purchased by the newly established Gujarat Titans for 6.25 crores from the marquee group of cricketers in the auction.
