Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar, who was born on August 16, 1958, is an Indian actor, film director, screenwriter, producer, and scriptwriter. He also works in Marathi, Telugu, and Bhojpuri films.
About Mahesh Manjrekar: Manjrekar has appeared in several movies, some of which were his creations. He made his television debut as a leprosy patient in the Door Darshan Marathi Program Kshitij.
He originally won praise for his portrayal in the 2002 movie Kaante and went on to play antagonistic characters in the movies Arrambam (2013), Okkadunnadu (2007), and Slumdog Millionaire as the thug Javed (2008). The Marathi movie Me Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy featured him as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

In the Indian TV series C.I.D. ‘s Aakhri Chunauti series of episodes, he also played the part of Harpeez Dongara. Inspector D.R. Talpade, played by Manjrekar, received critical acclaim in the film Wanted. In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, he ran as an MNS candidate from Mumbai North West but fell short against Shiv Sena’s Gajanan Kirtikar.

Manjrekar had two children with Deepa Mehta, a costume designer, but the two later got divorced. He afterwards wed Medha Manjrekar. They have an actress as a daughter named Saiee Manjrekar. From his wife Medha Manjrekar’s first spouse, he has a stepdaughter.
Together with Aniruddha Deshpande, he founded Great Maratha Entertainment LLP Productions in 2011, which is his own production company. Fakta Ladh Mhana, one of the most expensive Marathi movies, was the first movie produced under the label.

He began his career as a filmmaker with the critically acclaimed Marathi movie Aai, for which he received a Filmfare Award for Best Director.
Once there, this man was unstoppable, and he advanced his ideas with the critically praised Vaastav starring Sanjay Dutt.
The initial success, however, was followed by a string of forgettable projects like Nidaan and Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rahta Hai, which utterly failed at the box office.
Viruddh, Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav, and It Was Raining That Night are some of his other films under his direction. In addition to directing, Manjrekar has worked as a playback singer, producer, writer, and actor (Kaante).
