It was confirmed by the Jiangxi Provincial High People’s Court last year that Lao should be put to death for her role in the deaths of seven people. The sentence was given by the Intermediate People’s Court of Nanchang, Jiangxi, almost a year ago. Her case was reviewed by the high court in August.

Lao got the death sentence, lost all of her political rights, and had all of her property taken away because she was involved in the crimes, which included kidnapping and robbery.

The high court said that Lao and her ex-boyfriend Fa Ziying killed other people on purpose and broke the law when they did so. They also used violence or threats to get illegal control of other people’s property and kidnapped people to get money or property from them.

Chinese sources say that Lao chose people to kill at entertainment places while Fa killed them. Lao ran away for about 20 years, using fake names to avoid being caught until she was caught in Fujian province in 2019. It was in August 2020 that she was charged with murder on purpose, robbery, and kidnapping.
