His father, Sitaram Choudhary, is a retired Army Subedar Major. He was raised in Chennai and Jabalpur. He can trace his ancestors back to the Bhagalpur District of Bihar, India.

Before he married Debina Bonnerjee legally in 2011, they secretly married in 2006 at a Goregaon temple without their parent’s consent. Gurbani is a nickname given to them by their friends and fans. They did, however, marry on February 15, 2011.
