Gautam Gambhir: Indian politician and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir were born on October 14, 1981. He has competed in all formats of the game of cricket during his career. Since 2019, he has served as a member of the Parliament of India, known as the Lok Sabha.

In 2019, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the country’s fourth highest civilian honour.

As a cricket player, he was a left-handed opening batsman who played for Delhi in domestic cricket and captained Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League. He also played for Delhi in international cricket (IPL). In 2003, he debuted in his first One Day International (ODI), played against Bangladesh.

The following year, he featured in his first Test, which was held against Australia. Between the end of 2010 and the end of 2011, he led the Indian national side in six One-Day Internationals (ODIs), all of which were victories for India.

Both the 2007 World Twenty20 (with 75 runs from 54 balls) and the 2011 Cricket World Cup finals were won by India, and he was a significant contributor to both of those victories (97 from 122).

In 2012, Kolkata Knight Riders won the Indian Premier League for the first time under Gambhir’s leadership, and they went on to win the tournament again in 2014.

Gautam Gambhir International Format

Between 2005 and 2007, Gambhir participated in a few One-Day Internationals for India, even though he was not selected for the Test team. However, the selectors decided to go with Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, and Sachin Tendulkar as the top three batsmen for the team competing in the 2007 World Cup.

On March 22 March 22, 2019, he became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad, both of whom are ministers in the Union government. In the general election in India in 2019, he was the party’s candidate for East Delhi.

Gambhir denied his opponent Atishi Marlena’s challenge to engage in a discussion by stating that he does not believe in “dharna and debates.” This came after Marlena issued the challenge to Gambhir. 

Arun Jaitley and Ravi Shankar Prasad were present when he officially became a BJP member on March 22, 2019. East Delhi was his constituency in the 2019 Indian general election, in which he was the party’s candidate.

He was challenged to a debate by opponent Atishi Marlena, but he declined, adding that “dharna and debates” are not his thing. Gautam defeated Atishi Marlena and Arvinder Singh Lovely in the general election by a margin of 695,109 votes.
