Droupadi Murmu was born on 20th June 1958. She is a prominent Indian politician who is serving as India’s 15th and current President since July 25, 2022.
Introduction to Droupadi Murmu: A member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, she claims that the party is her own. This makes her the first person from her tribe to hold this office, and she is the only second woman in history (after Pratibha Patil) to do so. She is also the youngest person to serve as President, according to the record. She served as the eighth governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021 before becoming president. Before that, she worked for the Odisha state government from 2000 to 2004 in a variety of cabinet positions.
As early as 1979, she started her professional life working as a clerk for the State Irrigation and Power Department, where she remained until 1983. She then entered the teaching profession at Rairangpur, where she stayed till 1997.
Personal life of Droupadi Murmu
Droupadi Murmu was born to a family in the Santali community of Uparbeda village in the Baidaposi area of Rairangpur, Odisha. Her father, Biranchi Narayan Tudu, was also a farmer, therefore farming was in the family. Her whole family has been in the role of traditional leaders (Sarpanch) of the local council, including both parents and both sets of grandparents (Gram Panchayat).

The career of Draupadi Murmu
Droupadi Murmu, an independent candidate, won a seat on the council of the Rairangpur Nagar Panchayat designated for women in 1997. She afterward became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She was elected in 2000 and served in the Odisha Legislative Assembly for two years, representing the Rairangpur Assembly seat. She served as Minister of State with Independent Charge for Commerce and Transportation from 6th March 2000 to 6th August 2002 and for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development from 6th August 2002 to 16th May 2004 in the BJP and BJD coalition government in Odisha.

After serving as an Assemblywoman for Odisha, she was honored in 2007 with the Nilkanth Award as the assembly’s top performer. She ran for the Lok Sabha seat from the Mayurbhanj in 2009, however, she lost when the BJD and BJP terminated their partnership. In 2013, she was elected as district president of the BJP and served as a member of the BJP National Executive (ST Morcha) till 2015.
