Police said on Sunday that a woman in the Sultanpuri area of this city’s outer district bit off her husband’s right ear out of anger. The 45-year-old victim told the cops that the bite broke off the top part of his right ear and that he had to have surgery to fix it. After getting help, the victim made a report against his wife.
The woman has been charged with a FIR under Section 324 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which says she knowingly caused harm with dangerous tools or means. Police say they are still looking into the case.
“On November 20, at 9:20 a.m., I went outside to throw away trash. My wife was told to clean the house. The person who called the cops said, “As soon as I got home, my wife and I started fighting over something we didn’t know.”
He also told the cops that his wife had asked him to sell the house and give her a share so she could live with the kids alone.

“I tried to help her understand, but we got into a fight.” I even pushed her away when she tried to hit me. When I was walking out of the house, she grabbed me behind and bit my right ear so hard that the top part of my ear came off. The victim told the cops, “My son took me to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri for treatment.” He also said that he had to have surgery at Jaipur Golden Hospital in Rohini.
According to the cops, the hospital told them about the attack on November 20, and a team was sent to get more information.
“The victim was unwell and not in a condition to give his statement. He had requested the police that he would come to the police station to give his statement. On November 22, he approached the police and gave a written complaint. We have registered an FIR into the matter and further investigation is in progress,” said a senior police officer.
