Barinder Sran

Barinder Sran’s early life:  Barinder Balbir Singh Sran is a cricketer representing India on the international stage. He was born on 10 December 1992. Sran transitioned from boxing to cricket when he was 17 but was not selected for Kings XI Punjab after trying out for the team.

After completing his cricket education at an academy in Chandigarh, he competed in the Gatorade Speedster and won the North India leg of the competition. After he triumphed in the Under-19 competition of Speedster, he was flown to Dubai to participate in training at the ICC academy.

Barinder Sran’s domestic career 

In the 2011-12 season, he made his debut for Punjab, taking part in both the T20s and the Ranji Trophy. Several seasons were lost due to him being sidelined by injuries. In 2014, he participated in tryouts held by Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. The following year, he was acquired by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL players auction.

During that season, he appeared in just one game with the Royals. In 2015, he contributed to Punjab’s team’s victory over Railways in a Ranji Trophy match by taking six wickets and helping them win by an innings margin.

At the Indian Premier League auction held in January 2018, he was purchased by the Kings XI Punjab.

In December 2018, the Mumbai Indians made the winning bid at the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League season and were able to secure his services. The Mumbai Indians did not retain him for the upcoming IPL auction and consequently, let him go.

 Barinder Sran’s international career

Sran was selected for the Indian one-day international squad to tour Australia in January 2016, even though he had just played eight List A matches. In his maiden One-Day International (ODI), which took place in Perth, he grabbed three wickets and was responsible for the dismissal of Steve Smith, David Warner, and Aaron Finch. After that, he was selected for the One-Day International and Twenty20 squads representing India on their Zimbabwe tour. 

Barinder Sran’s Personal Life

After seeing an advertisement for Kings XI Punjab inviting young people to try out for the team, Sran, whose father was a farmer, decided to get involved in cricket. A little lad who up until that point had only ever played village cricket with a tennis ball made it through to the King’s Cup and is now ranked among the top 35–40 uncapped cricketers in Punjab.

He did not acquire a contract with the Indian Premier League. After completing his training at an academy in Chandigarh, he went on to compete and win the India Under-19 leg of the Gatorade Speedster competition.
