He made his first-class debut for Bengal in 2005, and his consistent pace, attained by an exaggerated spring into his delivery stride, astounded many. Dinda joined the Pune Warriors India in the 2012 Indian Premier League season.

He was Bengal’s leading wicket-taker in the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy, with 35 dismissals in eight matches. In July 2018, Dinda was named to the India Green team for the 2018-19 Duleep Trophy. He was Bengal’s leading wicket-taker in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, with 28 dismissals in eight matches.

Before Bengal’s Elite Group A match against Andhra Pradesh on December 24, 2019, Ashok Dinda was dropped from the squad for ‘disciplinary reasons.’ Dinda declared his retirement from Bengal on November 10, 2020. On December 15, 2020, he committed to join Goa for the 2020-21 season.

Dinda made his T20 international debut for India against Sri Lanka at Nagpur on December 9, 2009. He took the wicket of Sanath Jayasuriya. Dinda ended with a score of 1/34 in three overs. He batted for 19 runs off 20 deliveries before being removed by Tillakaratne Dilshan.

Dinda made his One-Day International debut against Zimbabwe in June 2010. He bowled 7.2 overs and took 0/49. In 2010, he was named to the Asia Cup team in Sri Lanka. Dinda, on the other hand, only appeared in one game during that tournament, a group-stage encounter against Sri Lanka in which he went 0/39 in five overs.

Dinda is a Bharatiya Janata Party member. He was selected as a candidate for the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election in Moyna (Vidhan Sabha seat). He was also elected in Moya as an MLA (Vidhan Sabha constituency).
