The early life of Adi Godrej: Godrej (Adi Burjorji Godrej (born 3 April 1942)) attended St. Xavier’s High School and subsequently St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai for 2 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from HL College and his MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he was also a member of Tau Beta Pi and the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity.

He returned to India and joined the family company. He modernized the organizational structure and improved processes. While the license raj was in effect, Adi Godrej led the Godrej group to tremendous heights. He oversees the company along with his brother, Nadir Godrej, managing director of Godrej Industries as well as chairman of Godrej agro vet, and his sibling, Jamshid Godrej, managing director and chairman of Godrej & Boyce.

Godrej consumer products have grown into a powerful developing market FMCG player under his leadership, thanks to a 3×3 approach to international expansion that has seen the company establish a footprint in three emerging regions (Asia, Africa, and Latin America) across 3 categories (home care, personal wash, hair care).

He has served as the head of numerous organizations and trade groups in India. In addition to being elected president of the Confederation of Indian Industry for the 2012–2013 fiscal year, he served as the chairman of the Indian School of Business from April 2011 to April 2018.

He has served on the dean’s advisory council of the MIT Sloan School of Management and as chief of the Nurse Money Institute of Management Studies’ board of governors.

The Pirojsha Godrej Foundation, the Soonabai Pirojsha Godrej Foundation, and the Godrej Memorial Trust collectively hold 25% of the shares of the Godrej holding company.

Through these trusts, the group funds environmental sustainability programs like mangroves, healthcare, and educational endeavors.

Personal life of Adi Godrej

He had three children with socialite and philanthropist Rameshwar Godrej, who died in October 2016. They live in Malabar Hill, which is in south Mumbai. Tanya, his eldest child, serves as executive director and president (marketing) of Godrej Industries Ltd. Nisa Godrej, his second daughter, joined the organization after earning her degree from Harvard Business School in the United States.

Pirojsha Godrej, his son, completed his management studies in the United Kingdom and has now united Godrej properties.
