World Computer Literacy Day

World Computer Literacy Day 2023: World Computer Literacy Day is held every year on December 2. The holiday was formed by N.I.I.T. in 2001 to honour the company’s 20th anniversary and to help people, especially women and children, learn how to use computers better. In our futuristic world, computers are commonplace, but Computer Literacy Day tells us that we all need to do our part to make computers easy for people who may have trouble with new technology to use.

How did World Computer Literacy Day come to be?

In 2001, an Indian company called N.I.I.T. used its 20th anniversary to start World Computer Literacy Day. N.I.I.T., which stands for “National Institute of Information Technology,” is a company that helps people improve their skills and abilities. It was started in 1981 by Rajendra Singh Pawar and Vijay K. Thadani.

A study showed that most computer users around the world were guys. This led the company to create World Computer Literacy Day. Because of this, N.I.I.T. took up the cause of educating more girls and women by teaching them how to use computers. In the 30+ years since its start in 1981, the company has grown to many more countries.

World Computer Literacy Day 2023: History, Significance, Activities, Facts

Early in the 1820s, Charles Babbage created the “Difference Engine,” a mechanical computer that could do simple math. This was the start of the computer’s past. Before this device, people did math with the abacus, Napier’s bones, the Pascaline adding machine, and the Leibniz Wheel, among other things. That being said, the “difference” engine was different from others because it ran on steam and could solve logarithm tables.

Since then, computers have been improved and redesigned many times to become the laptops, phones, and desktops we use today. Back in the day, computers were sometimes so big they took up the whole room. Today, though, we have all of that science technology in the palm of our hands.

Significance

World Computer Literacy Day is important because it works to get more people to learn how to use computers. A lot of people still need to learn about technology, even though most of the world has been exposed to it.

It’s World Computer Literacy Day, a time to celebrate computers and all things tech. This new idea has completely changed the way the world works.

Also, the day serves as a warning that lots of people still can’t use computers, mostly because they are poor or the country isn’t developed enough. Every year on World Computer Literacy Day, we should all do our part to help others get online.
