Parag Desai, executive director of Gujarat-based Wagh Bakri brand of tea, died at a private hospital in Ahmedabad on October 22, a week after being injured in an accident. He was 49 years old.

On October 15, Desai collapsed outside his residence and suffered a brain haemorrhage while he was trying to escape from dogs on the road, Ahmedabad Mirror reported. A security guard alerted the family to the incident and Desai was taken to nearby Shelby Hospital for treatment.

According to the reports, after a day of observation he was shifted to Zydus Hospital for surgery. Desai died on October 22 at a private hospital in Ahmedabad after being on a ventilator for seven days.

Parag joined the family business in the 1990s along with his cousin Paras. He studied MBA from Long Island University in the US. Desai supervised the export, marketing and sales departments of the group and was an accomplished tea tester and evaluator.

Prominent businessman Parag Desai is survived by his wife Vidisha and their daughter Parisha. However, not much is known about him as Parag always prefers to keep his family away from the media limelight. It cannot be denied that after Parag’s unfortunate demise, it will be extremely difficult for him to live the rest of his life.

“Desai collapsed and suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and became unconscious. He was immediately taken to a private hospital, and from there to another hospital, where he underwent brain surgery. He was kept under observation, and He breathed his last at around 7 pm on Sunday evening,” said a company official close to the Desai family.
