Urmila Matondkar is an acclaimed actress and politician who has been active in the Indian entertainment industry for over three decades. She has won numerous awards for her work in cinema and has also been involved in several political campaigns.

In recent years, Matondkar has also become known for her work in the field of social activism and has been a vocal critic of the government of India. 

She is the Member of Parliament for Mumbai North-West constituency in Maharashtra. She was first elected as an independent candidate in the 2009 Indian general election. She was then re-elected as a BJP candidate in 2014. 

Urmila Matondkar – Early life

After studying at the Mount Mary School of Arts and completing an acting course at the National School of Drama in Delhi, Urmila made her screen debut in the 2002 film Main Hoon Na. Urmila has worked in a variety of roles in Hindi cinema, including lead and supporting roles.

In the 2009 general election, she was elected to the Parliament of India as a member of the Indian National Congress. In March 2014, she was appointed Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports in the new government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
