1. You can see Tina: The Tina Turner Musical at Hobby Center. From Tuesday, January 2, to Sunday, January 7, – Read about the late, great Tina Turner, who broke down walls to become the Rock ‘n’ Roll Queen. Based on one of the best-selling artists of all time, this Broadway musical brings her most famous hits to life with acts that will blow your mind. $40 or more. Show times change.
2. From Friday, January 5 to Sunday, January 7, College Football Playoff Fan Central will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The event is free and family-friendly. Fans can enjoy three days of games, clinics, guest appearances, autograph signings, special exhibits, and more in Downtown while the College Football National Championship is going on. Friday from noon to six o’clock, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to six o’clock.

List of AT&T Playoff Songs From Friday, January 5, to Sunday, January 7, live at Shell Energy Stadium | FREE if you RSVP – The Dynamo stadium in EaDo is the site of this free three-day music series, which is one of the best things to do before the National Championship. 5. The College Football Playoff National Championship will be held at NRG Stadium. January 8th, Monday – The College Football National Championship is the main event in Houston after a long season and a week of events that built up to it. You can see the winners of the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl play for the big prize at NRG Stadium. Tickets that are still available start at $1,900, but you can use the TicketNetwork online marketplace to find cheaper, harder-to-get spots. 6:30pm.

Chevron Houston Marathon & Aramco Half Marathon in Downtown Houston. Monday, January 8 through Sunday, January 28 – During the month of January, Galveston Restaurant Weeks gives people a chance to try the best foods from dozens of the Island’s best restaurants on prix-fixe breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus that won’t break the bank. Fun with Yaga’s Chili Quest and Beer Fest at the Strand in Galveston | January 13th, Saturday – For a day full of, you got it, chili and beer, the 15th Annual Chili Quest & Beer Fest is coming back to Galveston’s Historic Downtown Strand District. Try as much chili as you can from the best cookoff teams, and then start at 1pm, sip and walk through more than 70 beers and drinks. Chili tasting tickets cost $13 and beer tasting tickets cost $35, which comes with 24 2-oz samples and 4 spirit samples. From 10am to 6pm.

The 46th Original MLK Jr. Parade will be held in downtown Houston | January 15th, Monday – The Black Heritage Society’s 46th original Downtown parade will include marching bands, floats, peaceful marches, and more. It will be led by officials from the City of Houston. The parade starts at the corner of Lamar and Smith Streets. From 10am to 4pm.
9. Houston Astros FanFest at Minute Maid Park on January 20. Meet up with other Astros fans at Minute Maid for the yearly Astros FanFest. You can meet your favorite players, former players, and announcers. You can also play games, take pictures with the World Series prizes, and more. You can go for free, but you need to get a ticket online in order to get in. Times to be confirmed.
10. The Houston Auto & Boat Show is at the NRG Center. From Wednesday, January 24 to Sunday, January 28, – Two of the biggest H-Town events of the year are coming back to NRG over the same weekend. For five days, the newest and best cars will be on land and at sea. You can look at the newest cars from all the big brands, find out about cool new cars that are coming out, and bring some cool stuff home with you. $20; kids under 5 get in for free.
