History of Relaxo Footwear
Relaxo Footwears Limited (RWL) was incorporated on September 13, 1984, as a private limited company to sell the goods of group companies, including Hawai slippers, lightweight slippers, canvas shoes, PVC footwear, etc. RWL is part of the Relaxo Group, which has a substantial interest in footwear manufacturing. On March 31, 1993,
it was incorporated. From 1995–96, the company transitioned from a trading/marketing agency to a production operation in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, with the ability to create 50,000 pairs of Hawaiian and lightweight chappals per day across two shifts. RWL’s IPO raised Rs.4.50 crores at a premium of Rs.50 per share (for a total of Rs.10 crores).
In 1999, the company expanded Bahadurgarh’s capacity. From 1999-2000, the company opened the largest Hawai manufacturing in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. The new plant opened in July 2001.
