Raj Babbar Early Life and Education: Mufid-E-Aam Inter College, Agra, was where he began his education. The National School of Drama’s Agra College, where he earned his theatre degree in 1975, is where he studied. 

Raj Babbar Personal Life

Raj Babbar and Nadira Zaheer have two children, Arya and Juhi Babbar. Sajjad Zaheer’s daughter Nadira Zaheer is a well-known theatre artist in her own right. Actress Smita Patil, with whom Raj Babbar had a son, Prateik Babbar, died suddenly shortly after giving birth to the couple’s son.

Professional Career of Raj Babbar

‘Sau Din Saas Ke,’ starring Reena Roy, was the first film in which Raj had a starring role. ‘Insaaf Ka Taraazu’ made Raj Babbar famous for his compassionate portrayal of a rapist who ends up being shot for his crimes.

He appeared in several B.R. Chopra films, including ‘Nikaah’ and ‘Aaj Ki Aawaz’ alongside Deepak Parashar and Smita Patil. Even in Punjabi films such as “Chann Pardesi,” “Marhi Da Deeva,” and “Long Da Lishkara.”

For his roles in these flicks, he received tremendous recognition. Two feature films and one television series were produced by Babbar Films Pvt Ltd., under which he formed his own production company.

Political Career of Raj Babbar

When V. P. Singh was still the leader of the Janata Dal in 1989, he became a member of that party. He later joined the Samajwadi Party and was elected to the House of Representatives three times. Raj Babbar was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1994 and served until 1999.

Samajwadi Party’s expulsion in 2006 led to his 2008 affiliation with the Indian National Congress. In the 2009 Lok Sabha by-elections, he notably defeated Akhilesh Yadav’s wife, Dimple Yadav, and was elected to a fourth term as a Member of Parliament. He ran for Ghaziabad in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections but lost to the BJP candidate General V.K. Singh.

Raj Babbar Achievements & Controversies

He is acclaimed for his roles in over 150 films and 30 plays, as well as his work with organizations dedicated to the prevention of AIDS and drug abuse and promoting the well-being of those who are physically and intellectually disabled.

Raj Babbar has been nominated for the Filmfare Awards on five separate occasions.
