About Pawan Goenka: Pawan Kumar Goenka, the former CEO of Mumbai-based Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, is well-known in the industry for his achievements. Mahindra & Mahindra Limited is an automobile manufacturer (MML). He is also the chairman of SsangYong Motor Company, a South Korean subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company. This corporation operates on the Korean peninsula.
Pawan Goenka-Early Life
Goenka received his basic and secondary education at Shree Jain Vidyalaya in Kolkata, where he grew up. As a result, he attended the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India, for his undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering. He then received his doctorate from Cornell University in the United States.
He finished Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program in six weeks, working full-time. Between 1979 and 1993, he worked in the General Motors Research and Development Center in Detroit, Michigan, in the United States of America. He was thereafter promoted to general manager at Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. (R&D).

Pawan Goenka-Career
Goenka took over as Mahindra’s R&D GM in October 1993. In April of that year, he was designated the company’s chief operating officer for the automotive industry. After serving as sector head since September 2005, he was appointed president of the vehicle and farm equipment sectors in April of the following year.
“Following his appointment as Executive Director in 2013, he was assigned the additional duty of heading Mahindra’s two-wheeler division in April 2014.
In November 2016, Dr. Pawan Kumar Goenka was appointed MD of M&M. “Siddharth Goenka’s boards included representatives from SIAM, ARAI, and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, as well as the National Skills Development Corporation and the Automotive Engineers India (SIAM).
He serves on the CII’s national council and as chairman of the IIT board of governors, among other leadership positions. In September 2021, the ACC will nominate Goenka as president and CEO of INSPACe.
Pawan Goenka’s Wife:
Mamta Goenka, his wife, “volunteers her time to counsel cancer patients and help them receive sufficient therapy and post-operative care,” according to Goenka.

Awards and Honors:
For engineering excellence, the SAEIndia Foundation bestowed awards in 2012.
He was selected Apollo CV Man of the Year in 2012 by the CV Awards.
In 2007 and 2011, he was named Man of the Year by Autocar Professional.
In 2004, he was made a Fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers.
When the Indian National Academy of Engineers recognised him as a “Fellow” in 2004, he was quite pleased.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur honored him with their Distinguished Alumni Award in 2004.
SAE’s 1997 Outstanding International Advisor Award was given to him in his honor.
It was given in 1985 and 1991 as part of the Charles L. McCuen Achievement Awards.
In 1986, General Motors presented him with the Extraordinary Accomplishment Award in recognition of his outstanding achievements.
