Robert Joseph led a Prowein masterclass led by critic and author Robert Joseph on Monday (11 March), where guests compared the AI wines to their man-made counterparts.

Besides its terroir and traditions, Moldova has a vibrant wine industry that embraces innovative technology. It is becoming one of the world’s leading wine nations,” stated Joseph.

As the results have come in, Wine of Moldova’s representative pointed out, “Most people at the masterclass and those tasting at the stand prefer human-made wine, so AI is not yet able to replace human expertise in this field.”

A total of 51 Moldovan wineries will attend the trade fair this week, including large producers as well as smaller, artisanal labels. In the past decade, Moldova has undergone a dramatic change, with terroir-driven wines now available at all price points.

Moldavian wine producers face a range of challenges. However, stakeholder organizations are in a strong position to meet these challenges head on, taking advantage of future technologies.

Moldova offers valuable lessons to the rest of the world as it engages in a new era of cooperation between winegrowers and digital innovators.
