Luciana Lixandru didn’t travel much as a child and grew up in a small place in Romania. What she knew about the U.S. came from books and TV shows. But for some reason, she decided she wanted to go there and study, and Georgetown gave her a grant. It was an amazing and heady event that changed her life in many ways, including how she did in school and with her friends. She still has best friends from college.

She was lucky enough to get a call from a recruiter for a finance company after she graduated. She knew right away that she wanted to spend the rest of her life investing in tech. It was love at first sight. When she joined Accel in 2011, it was an honor to work with companies like UiPath that helped shape the startup scene in Europe. While having coffee with other companies, she never did. But she always told her husband, “If Sequoia ever calls, I owe it to myself to at least have the conversation.” They did it to make room for a new country.

Luciana Lixandru Career

Accel has been in Europe for a long time, and Luciana has worked there for eight years. Three years ago, she became a partner in their London office.

Since joining Accel, she has built up an amazing track record and shown over and over that she can find great leaders early on and work with them as they grow. Luciana saw the RPA trend coming before the venture capital industry did, and she led UiPath’s Series A round. She has also been a great business partner to Deliveroo, Miro, Tessian, and many others. The owners of the companies she works with trust her very much.

Lixandru led the Series A round for UiPath, a software company based in Bucharest that went public in February 2021. When it went public, it was worth $35 billion, which made it one of the biggest companies in Europe’s history.
