A lot of polls show that most people think the Democrat, who often makes mistakes, is too old to be president, even though his expected opponent, former president Donald Trump, also makes mistakes at 77.

There will likely be a lot of false information spread during the campaign, which is a holdover from the last nasty election, in which Trump fans stormed the US Capitol to try to stop the confirmation of Biden’s win. The vote will show how much support there is for right-wing populists. These parties have a lot of support after Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam and anti-EU PVV Freedom Party won the Dutch election in November and Giorgia Meloni’s far-right Brothers of Italy won last year.

But Brussels can take heart from Poland, where Donald Tusk, a former president of the European Council, has returned to power on a plan that is strongly in favor of the EU.
