Faster toll collections for a better toll experience

Fastag is an electronic toll collection system operated by the National Highways Authority of India(NHAI) under the Ministry of Roads and Transport. It is a rechargeable prepaid label affixed to the windscreen of four-wheeler vehicles. It uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to automatically scan and debit the toll fee of vehicles without having to stop at toll collection centers.

Fastag apply online

Fastag can be applied online at around 22 recognized bank websites, 2 payment banks(Paytm and Fino Payments Banks), or at the official website of https://www.npci.org.in/what-we-do/netc-fastag/request-for-netc-fastag

to have a better toll experience.

Fastags can also be purchased offline at National Highway Toll Plazas to avoid waiting for the delivery.

Fastag recharge

Fastag recharge is always prepaid and from December 1, 2019, Fastag missing vehicles have to pay double the toll tax as a fine. It can be recharged online using credit or debit cards, UPI ID, and even NHAI prepaid wallet. Linking your savings bank account to Fastag is another option to recharge your Fastag.

The simplest way to deactivate Fastag is to call Fastag helpline number 1033 and place a request to close the account

Fastag damaged

A Fastag is generally valid for 5 years. If your Fastag is damaged it can be replaced by your issuing bank with minimum charges of 100 INR and will be linked to your existing account.

Fastag documents

Registration Certificates (RC) of the vehicle and Identity Proof of the individual(Aadhar card, PAN card, Passport, or Voter’s ID anyone) are needed to buy a Fastag.
