With the release of the Punjabi film ‘Lion of Punjab’ in 2011, he began his acting career. This film was a flop. However, he appeared in several well-received Punjabi movies, including Jatt & Juliet, Jatt & Juliet 2, Sardaar Ji, and Sardaar Ji 2, Punjab 1984, Ambarsariya, Super Singh, Soorma, Sajjan Singh Rangroot, and Shadaa.

He was a judge on the singing reality show Rising Star for seasons 1, 2, and 3. He is also a television personality. In Addition to these, he has made guest appearances on several reality television programmes, including The Kapil Sharma Show, Comedy Nights with Kapil, Voice of Punjab on PTC, Koffee with Karan Season 6, and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 9.

The Punjabi Filmfare Awards also gave Diljit the Best Actor Award for the film Ambarsariya. Other honours received by Diljit Dosanjh include the PTC Punjabi Film Awards, which he won for his performance in the movie Jatt & Juliet, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, and Jatt & Juliet 2.
