Benjamin Andrew Stokes is a famous cricketer who was born on June 4, 1991. He is currently leading the England Test team playing for the England T20I.

Introduction of Ben Stokes: Ben Stokes as of 2022 plays for Durham in the English county league and has previously played for Rising Pune Supergiant and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, among other Twenty20 teams. While he bowls quickly with his right arm, Stokes is a middle-order left-handed batter.

He excels in many areas. During England’s tour of South Africa in 2015–16, he scored 258 runs in an innings, setting a record for a number-six batsman.

During the same match, he and Jonny Bairstow set a record for the highest score by a sixth-wicket partnership in Tests, with 399.

The early life of Ben Stokes

Born in Christchurch, New Zealand to an English mother, a rugby league player, and coach Gerard Stokes, sometimes known as “Ged Stokes,” Stokes grew up in a multicultural household. He comes from both Maori and English ancestry.

When he was 12 years old, his family moved to England because his father had been given the role of head coach at the Workington Town rugby league team.

He grew up in the West Cumbrian town of Cockermouth, where he attended the local school and played cricket for the local club. At age 15, he captained the side to the North Lancashire and Cumbria Cricket League Premier Division title in 2006.

Soon after, his parents uprooted once again, this time to Christchurch in New Zealand. On the 8th of December 2020, Ged Stokes succumbed to brain cancer in New Zealand.

The career of Ben Stokes

Stokes was included in England’s team to play Australia in the Ashes series in 2013–14. He joined an exclusive group, becoming England’s 658th Test player. In his maiden Test match, he helped England win by scoring one run and taking two wickets (Michael Clarke and Peter Siddle) in their first innings.

He scored 28 runs off 90 balls in England’s losing second innings.  He was picked to play in the third Test, and after dismissing Brad Haddin, he scored 18 runs from 57 balls. He bowled Michael Clarke and got rid of Steve Smith in Australia’s second innings.

He scored 120 runs off 195 balls for his first Test century in England’s second innings. He scored 14 runs and then bowled out Shane Watson in the first innings of the fourth Test.

He contributed 19 runs and the wicket of David Warner in England’s second innings, but the team ultimately lost.
