BCCI Takes Action

BCCI Takes Action: It’s bad news for the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) in the news again. Fraud about age has come back to bite the OCA. Part of the Odisha Senior Men’s Ranji Team, Sumit Sharma is a cricket player who has been banned for two years by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Sources say that the BCCI found differences in Sharma’s age between the papers he sent earlier and the ones he sent for the Ranji team.

He was kicked off the Ranji team, and Tarini Sa has been named to take his place on the team. This new case of age theft in OCA came to light just in time for tomorrow’s Ranji match between the Odisha team and the Baroda team.

Sumit’s first job in cricket was as a left-arm spinner. He was put on the Odisha senior men’s Ranji Trophy team because of how well he played for his club.

It was announced in a news release by Sanjay Behera, secretary of the OCA, that “Sumit Sharma, a player of Odisha Senior Men’s Team, has been disqualified by the BCCI to play in the BCCI Domestic Tournaments for 2 years as he has produced multiple age certificates. The certificates produced by him when he played at the junior level in the year 2015-16 do not match with the ones he produced for the current season.”
