He was kicked off the Ranji team, and Tarini Sa has been named to take his place on the team. This new case of age theft in OCA came to light just in time for tomorrow’s Ranji match between the Odisha team and the Baroda team.

Sumit’s first job in cricket was as a left-arm spinner. He was put on the Odisha senior men’s Ranji Trophy team because of how well he played for his club.

It was announced in a news release by Sanjay Behera, secretary of the OCA, that “Sumit Sharma, a player of Odisha Senior Men’s Team, has been disqualified by the BCCI to play in the BCCI Domestic Tournaments for 2 years as he has produced multiple age certificates. The certificates produced by him when he played at the junior level in the year 2015-16 do not match with the ones he produced for the current season.”
