On Saturday, the water level of both the rivers kept increasing at the rate of one cm every four hours. Irrigation department officials said that both the rivers are still flowing much below the warning point. The water level of Ganga in Phaphamau was 78.51 meters at 8 pm on Saturday night. Similarly, the water level of Ganga in Chhatnag was 76.79 and Yamuna in Naini was 77.55 meters. Whereas, 24 hours ago, the water level of Ganga in Phaphamau was 78.40, in Chhatnag it was 76.31 and Yamuna was 76.94 meters. On the other hand, seeing the rising water level in Ganga, the pilgrimage priests at Sangam have now started retreating with their belongings.
1.40 lakh cusecs of water released from Matatila dam, trouble will increase in Prayagraj
Twenty gates of Matatila dam were opened early Sunday morning due to continuous rain in the Betwa river flow area of Jhansi. 1.40 lakh cusecs of water is being released from the dam into the Betwa river. After this, an alert has also been issued in Prayagraj. This water can reach Prayagraj after two to three days. This can make the situation even more frightening.
