Visitors and staff were evacuated from Paris’s Louvre Museum and the Versailles Palace on Saturday after a bomb threat. Paris police had received written threats to bomb both premises. After this the officials searched the museum.
The French government has issued a high security alert following a fatal stabbing at a school by a suspected extremist. The palace and its gardens have been evacuated after receiving threats while police investigate the area, an official said. After receiving the bomb threat, warning alarms were sounded in the Louvre and the entire area was quickly evacuated.
Video posted online shows people leaving, some in a hurry and some stopping to take photos, others clearly confused as to what is happening. The French government has raised the threat alert level after Friday’s school attack and is deploying 7,000 troops to beef up security.
