ODI World Cup 2023: India beat Pakistan by 7 wickets, Rohit-Iyer hits half-century

India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the 12th match of the World Cup 2023. India has achieved its third consecutive win in the tournament. He now also defeated his arch rivals against Australia and Afghanistan. He now has six points from three matches. While team India’s next match will be against Bangladesh on October 19 in Pune, Pakistan team will play against Australia in Bangalore on October 20.

Today at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Pakistan team strike down for 191 runs in 42.5 overs. Chasing the score, the Indian team won the match by scoring 192 runs for three wickets in 30.3 overs. Furthermore, Team India continued its winning streak against Pakistan in World Cup history. This is their eighth win against the opponent.

The Indian team, which came to chase the target of 192 runs from Pakistan, did not have a good start. Shubman Gill, who returned after recovering from dengue, was out after scoring 16 runs on 11 balls. He hit four fours in his innings. Shaheen Afridi got him caught by Shadab Khan. Shubman looked in form and this is good news from Team India’s point of view for the upcoming matches. After his dismissal, Virat Kohli came to the crease. Kohli along with Rohit made a partnership of 56 runs for the second wicket.

Rohit Sharma missed a century

Rohit Sharma missed scoring a century for the second consecutive match. He played an inning of 131 runs against Afghanistan. In this match also he had a chance to score a century, but he could not do so. Rohit returned to the pavilion after scoring 86 runs on 63 balls. He hit six fours and six sixes in his innings. During this period his strike rate was 136.51. Rohit also completed 300 sixes in ODIs during his innings. He became the third batsman to do so after former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi and former West Indies opener Chris Gayle.

Shreyas hits the winning four

After the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer along with KL Rahul finished the match. Both the batsmen made an unbeaten 36-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Iyer completed his half-century by hitting a four and ended the match. He remained unbeaten after scoring 53 runs on 62 balls. Iyer hit three fours and two sixes. KL Rahul remained unbeaten after scoring 19 runs on 29 balls. Two fours came off his bat.
