History Of JM Financial
Nimesh Kampani established JM Financial in 1973 as a consultancy practice. It was formed in 1986 as a private limited liability company to start engaging in the industry of investing in the stock market. It became a publicly traded company group in 1991 after listing on the Bombay Stock Exchange, and it notably influenced the National Stock Exchange in 2006.
Outside of stockbroking, they began expanding into wealth management in 1994, venture capital in 2006, investment in real estate in 2007, distraught credit in 2008, and mortgage loans in 2017.
Morgan Stanley and JM Financial formed the JM Morgan Stanley Joint Project in India in 1999. Morgan Stanley declared the termination of the JM Morgan Stanley Collaboration Agreement in February 2007. It bought JM Financial’s 49% shareholding in the corporate brokerage business and sold JM Financial its 49% stake in the investment banking business.

JM Financials’ main business segments are investment banking, wealth management, securities business (IWS); mortgage lending; distressed credit; and asset management. Most of the group’s revenues are generated by the IWS and mortgage loan segments. Only India accounts for nearly all of the revenues generated.
