In 1911 the first electric bike was introduced, and Ransome, Sims, and Jeffries started manufacturing electric motorcycle prototypes in 1919. A company known as Socovel Electric Motorcycle was founded in 1936.

Later many companies started manufacturing and working on electric bikes and vehicles. In 1940, a new Norwegian Motorcycle Company Tempo was launched which gave some good automobiles to the market of electric vehicles.

In 1967 Karl Kordes launched a hydrazine fuel cell motorcycle. Later in the following years various changes in technologies were made and features like fast charging, more speed, etc were added to electric bikes.

Sales and Growth of Electric Bikes

China became the first country to sell more than 300 million electric automobiles including electric bikes all over the world compared to other countries.

India has also appeared as one of the countries to acquire electric bikes and other automobiles. South cities of India like Chennai and Karnataka were the places where electric bikes were sold in good quantity.

The Government announced that the price range at which electric bikes will be sold starts from 1,50,000 in different parts of India.

Net Revenue of Electric Bikes

From the rent news and records, it is observed that the growth of vehicles having electric DC power as their main unit is subsequently increasing. More than 94, 589 crores of net revenue is being generated through electric bikes and other two-wheeler vehicles.
