The war between Israel and Hamas is deepening and along with it, diplomatic tension is also increasing in the countries of the entire Middle East. Meanwhile, the US has indicated that it is considering imposing new sanctions on Iran and is also preparing to make the sanctions against Hamas and Hezbollah more stringent. The scope of the strategic impact of the Israel-Hamas war is increasing.
Amidst questions being raised about Iran’s support to Hamas, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has indicated that America may impose new sanctions on Iran. The US Treasury Secretary gave this indication on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the World Bank and IMF in Marrakesh, Morocco.
According to reports, Janet Yellen said that the US is always reviewing new information to justify further tightening of sanctions, and we will continue to do so. Janet Yellen said that I would not reveal anything in terms of possible future actions, but I certainly do not want to go further than where we are now. We have not relaxed our sanctions on Iranian oil in any way.
US took action after Iran’s statement in favour of Hamas
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in a statement issued on Hamas’ attack on Tuesday that we support the Palestinian resistance, but those who say that the recent operation has been carried out by non-Palestinians are wrong. Following Iran’s reaction to Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, speculations are rife that the US may further tighten its sanctions on Iranian oil exports.
As per the reports, America is also planning to tighten sanctions on Hamas and Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah. Janet Yellen, Treasury Secretary, America said that from our side there are sanctions on Hamas and Hezbollah, and we are also continuously keeping an eye on it. Consideration is being given to further tightening the restrictions.
