About Allcargo Logistics: Allcargo Logistics manages India’s most extensive and robust infrastructure of Container Freight Stations (CFS) and Inland Container Depots (ICD) (ICD). These businesses handle import and export cargo, customs clearance, warehousing, and other auxiliary logistics services.

History Of Allcargo Logistics

Shashi Kiran Shetty launched the company in 1994 as a freight forwarding operator at Mumbai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port. Initially, the company operated as a customs house agent and a freight forwarder.

ECU-Line, an Antwerp-based logistics company, chose Allcargo as its India agent in 1995. JNPT became the company’s first Container Freight Station (CFS) in 2003.

It opened two new CFSs in Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and Mundra (Gujarat) in 2007, and one in Kolkata (West Bengal) in 2017.

Under the name Allcargo Logistics Industrial Parks Private Limited, Allcargo Logistics planned to commercialize its current land banks and develop into logistic and industrial parks to provide warehousing services in 2018.

Acquisitions And Mergers

  • Allcargo purchased Antwerp-based ECU-Line, an ocean freight services provider with an agent in India, in 2006.
  • Through its wholly-owned subsidiary Ecuhold NV, Allcargo Logistics purchased US-based Econocaribe Consolidators as well as a controlling position in Netherlands-based logistics company FCL Marine Rotterdam in 2013.
  • ECU-Line, Econocaribe, and other overseas acquisitions were rebranded as ECU Worldwide in 2016.
  • It purchased a majority share in Hyderabad-based Gati Ltd in 2020.
  • Allcargo paid $29 million to buy a 65% share of Swedish logistics company Nordicon in July 2021.

Services Of Allcargo Logistics

  • Operations of Multimodal Transportation (MTO)

Through its wholly-owned subsidiary ECU Worldwide, Allcargo’s MTO service includes NVOCC operations relating to LCL consolidation and neutral FCL activities around the world.

Initially, Allcargo entered the LCL consolidation sector as an agent for ECU Worldwide (then known as ECU-Line). The division offers direct export/import and multicity aggregation services through its international network of 180 countries.

  • Container Freight Stations (CFS) and Inland Container Depots (ICD) 

At JNPT, Allcargo began CFS operations in 2003. (Navi Mumbai). It currently operates CFSs (one at JNPT and one each in Chennai, Mundra, and Kolkata). Its ICD at Dadri, National Capital Region, is a collaborative effort with the Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), with Allcargo owning 51% of the company.

Export and import management, LCL shipments, secured and open warehousing, first and last-mile transportation, dry container maintenance and repair, reefer monitoring, and hazardous material handling are among its services.

  • Third-party logistics (3PL) 

Allcargo’s contract logistics section maintains warehouses in Goa, Hosur, and Bhiwandi, among other places (near Mumbai).

  • Parks for Logistics

Allcargo has logistics parks and warehouse facilities in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Delhi (NCR), and other major commercial centers.
