India’s first semi-high-speed regional rail service – RAPIDX – whose trains are equipped with hi-tech features and multiple passenger amenities, is all set for its inauguration on October 2, a day after the inauguration of the 17-km stretch. The priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot will include five stations, namely- Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot. The section from Duhai to Duhai Depot is a spur from the main corridor.

Each RAPIDX train will have six coaches, including one premium coach. While one coach in every train is reserved for women, the coach next to it will be the premium coach. The seats in the coaches are numbered sequentially. Additionally, seats are reserved for women, specially-abled and senior citizens in other coaches.

Each train has 407 seats arranged in a 2×2 layout while 1,061 passengers can stand inside the train. Each seat has an overhead rack with ample space for bags. Apart from free Wi-Fi on the train, each seat will have its own charging station.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the priority section at Sahibabad RapidX station in Uttar Pradesh on October 20. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on October 18 said he would flag off a RapidX train connecting Sahibabad and Duhai Depot stations, marking its launch. RRTS in India.

While the ticket price for a seat in the standard coach is Rs 20, passengers have to pay double the price to enjoy a journey in the premium coach. The fare for travel between Sahibabad and Duhai depot stations will be Rs 50 while for premium coaches it is Rs 100. If a passenger enters from one station, say Sahibabad station, and exits from the same station, he will be charged Rs 20. Children below 90 cm in height will be allowed free travel.

National Capital Region Transport Corporation Managing Director Vinay Kumar Singh, speaking to All India Radio, said that Unified Payment Interface (UPI) enabled ticket vending machines have been installed at stations to purchase paper QR tickets and recharge the National Common Mobility Card. Passengers can also purchase tickets from the ticket counters at RAPIDEX stations.
