Some places to celebrate Cinco de Mayo

THE RUM LINE AT LOEWS MIAMI BEACH 

Kick off the fiesta at the Caribbean-inspired al fresco bar, The Rum Line, as it welcomes Manhattan’s gourmet Mexican eatery, El Toro Blanco, to Miami for an exclusive Cinco de Mayo Takeover. Festivities begin on Tuesday, May 5th from 6PM until midnight with live entertainment, Happy Hour specials starting at $8 and more. Guests can enjoy bites and libations on The Rum Line’s alluring deck inspired by El Toro Blanco’s contemporary Mexican cuisine. 

Mi Casa Es Tu Casa
Yields 1 cocktail

1½ oz. Casa Dragones Blanco

½ oz.               East India Sherry

¼ oz.               Agave Nectar

6 drops             Mole Bitters

Directions: Combine all ingredients into a mixing glass, add ice and stir for 20 seconds. Strain into a double Rocks glass over one big ice cube. Garnish with an orange twist

El Camino
Yields 1 cocktail 

2 oz.                Reposado Tequila

½ oz.               Lime juice

½ oz.               Agave

¾ oz.               Fresh Cold-Pressed Carrot Juice

¼ oz.               Cinnamon Syrup

3                      Sage Leaves

2 pcs                Red Bell Pepper

Directions: After making fresh carrot juice and lime juice, put all ingredients (except sage and red bell pepper) into shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Pour into a tall Collins glass and garnish with Red Bell Pepper and Sage.

Mezclado Unido

Yields 1 cocktail

1½ oz. Vida mezcal

½ oz.               Ancho Reyes

½ oz.               Aperol

½ oz.               Lime Juice

½ oz.               Simple Syrup

2                      Fresh Grapefruit segments

Fresh Basil (a few sprigs)

Club Soda (topper)

Directions: Muddle the grapefruit and basil.  Add mescal, Ancho Reyes, lime juice and simple syrup.  Shake and strain into Highball glass. Top off with Club soda and garnish with fresh basil sprig.

Playing with Fire
Yields 1 cocktail

2 oz.                Jalapeño Infused Cabo Wabo Tequila

½ oz.               Agave Nectar

2                      Cucumber Slices

1                      Lime

Directions: Muddle 2 cucumber slices and agave nectar together. Add ice, Jalapeño infused Cabo Wabo tequila and squeeze the entire lime. Shake, strain and serve over ice in a Rocks glass. Float a paper thin slice of cucumber on top of drink for an optional garnish.

Yields 1 cocktail

1¼ oz. Sauza Hornitos Plata Tequila

½ oz.               Triple Sec

¼ oz.               Courvosier VS

2 oz.                Margarita Mix (your favorite brand)

Lime Zest (garnish)

Orange Zest (garnish)

Lemon Zest (garnish)

Directions: Fill mixing tin ⅔ full with ice and combine ingredients. Shake until frothy. Strain from mixing tin into Martini glass and garnish with lime zest, orange zest and lemon zest.

CASA DRAGONES

Cilantro Margarita
Yields 1 cocktail

1½ oz. Casa Dragones Blanco

¾ oz.               Cointreau

¾ oz.               Lime Juice

½ oz.               Simple Syrup

Handful of Fresh Cilantro

Pinch of salt

Directions: Muddle cilantro, add Casa Dragones Blanco, Cointreau, lime juice, salt, and simple syrup. Blend ingredients briefly, then strain through a tea strainer and shake before serving in a traditional Margarita glass.

Pink Panther

Yields 1 cocktail

2 oz.                Casa Dragones Blanco

½                     Fresh Grapefruit (juiced)

4                      Limes (juiced)

¼ oz.               Agave Nectar

1 oz.                Fever Tree Ginger Ale

2                      Dashes of Bitter Celery Shrub

1                      Hibiscus Flower

1                      Lime Wheel

Directions: Add Casa Dragones Blanco, grapefruit juice, lime juice, agave néctar and bitter celery shrub to a shaker. Shake with ice and fine strain into a Collins glass filled with ice. Top with Fever Tree Ginger Ale. Garnish with a lime wheel and a Hibiscus flower.

2 oz.                Apple Cider

Splash of Lemon Juice

Directions:  Add Herradura Silver, Crème de Cassis, apple cider and lemon juice to a shaker filled with ice. Shake thoroughly and fine strain into a chilled soup glass/Champagne saucer.
