Science Fiction Day 2024: People who haven’t heard of National Science Fiction Day won’t be blamed! Some people do it all the time, but almost no one else does. Some people might not like to read science fiction, watch science fiction movies, dress up as their favorite character, or even go to Comic-Con. But, as it turns out, National Science Fiction Day has grown into a very famous and unique event that every real science fiction fan puts on their calendar every year.

There is no official holiday for National Science Fiction Day, which means that it is not recognized or announced by any government. However, groups like the Hallmark Channel and the Scholastic Corporation do recognize it, which gives it some credibility. National Science Fiction Day is now celebrated all over the world, not just in the US.

Science Fiction Day 2024: History

It is for a good reason that National Science Fiction Day is held on this date late in the year. It was decided to happen on January 2 because that’s when famous science fiction writer Isaac Asimov was born. He is thought to have been born on January 2, 1920. Some of the best science fiction books ever written were written by Mr. Asimov. These include “Nightfall” and the “Foundation Trilogy.”

After working as a scientist for a while, Isaac Asimov became known as one of the most productive writers of all time. He wrote or edited more than 500 books. Many people think of him as the best writer of hard science fiction. He was a member and vice president of Mensa International for a long time. It was admirable how hard he worked to be scientifically correct.

Asimov came up with a number of terms that are used on National Science Fiction Day. His 1941 story “Liar!” was the first time the word “robotics” was used. He also came up with the word “spome” in a paper called “There’s No Place Like Spome,” which was published in the journal Atmosphere in Space Cabins and Closed Environments. In the end, his foundation stories came up with the word “psychohistory” to describe a made-up field of science that mixes history, sociology, and math to make broad statements about how very large groups of people will act in the future.

Along with being an atheist, Isaac Asimov was also a liberal and a realist. He didn’t really disagree with people’s religious beliefs, though. He was, however, often annoyed by irrational and false scientific ideas that tried to pass themselves off as real science.

National Science Fiction Day is held every year on January 2. This is not a coincidence. That’s also the date that the famous science fiction author Isaac Asimov was born. More than 400 pieces of science fiction were written by him. As an interesting but true side note—and what other kind of side note would there be for science fiction?—Asimov’s real birthdate is unknown. When his parents came to the United States from Russia in 1923, they had to give a birthday for their son, but no one knows if it is correct.

E.T. was tricked into following a line of Reese’s Pieces to find Elliott in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, which is one of the best sci-fi movies of all time. And the move made the candy popular, which led to sales almost tripling in the early 1980s.

At Disney World and Universal Studios in Orlando, you can have a lot of fun with science fiction. On National Science Fiction Day, you might want to go to a fun park. You can play Mission: Space or talk to Star Wars figures at Disney World. Along with rides from Men in Black, Transformers, E.T., and Marvel Super Heros, Universal Studios has a lot to offer. There is even a restaurant at Disney World that looks like a drive-in theater and has scenes from sci-fi movies playing on the big screen.

Facts about Science Fiction Day 2024

• In 1897, the book was first released in parts in “Pearson’s Magazine” over the course of several months.
• A dramatic version of the book was carried on the radio in October 1938. People thought it was real news, and the fear that followed made the front page of every newspaper.
• Wells was given 200 GBP for the first draft.
• At least six full-length movies have been made based on the story.
• Robert H. Goddard, who built two rockets that helped Apollo 11 land on the moon, says the story moved him.
